The Spanish escapade OLE!!!

Between 20-28 October 2017 classes III AG, III BG, III CG went on a tour of France, Spain and Italy. During the trip our teachers: Ms Karolina Odelska, Ms Anna Romaszko, Ms Lidia Wize and Mrs Tomasz Dąbrowski were looking after us. Our guides were Natalia and Dominika from the ATAS travel agency.

We left Radzymin on Friday morning and we started our trip - long and rich in interesting events. The first leg of our journey was exhaustive, but it led us to Avignon – a city in a beautiful province of France. First, we went to the famous Avignon Bridge, which is located on the Rhone river. Next, we visited the Popes’ Palace, in which with audio guides in English we got to know the fates of popes during the captivity. After the sightseeing we had free time to buy our first souvenirs and take a rest. At the end of the day we ate dinner at a Flunch restaurant and then we went to our hotel.

On Sunday morning after breakfast we went by coach in the direction of the Spanish border. After five hours drive we reached Teatro-Museu Dalí in Figueres. We were intrigued by many surreal paintings and sculptures of this Catalonian artist. Then, we went to nearby Girona. There we visited the cathedral and crossed the bridge where we could see beautiful, colourful tenement houses. After a short walk along the streets of Girona we could enjoy the beautiful views of the medieval city and eat dinner. Then we went to a hotel in Blanes on the coast of Costa Brava. In the evening we went to a nearby beach, where we had a great time splashing water at each other in the sea or relaxing and admiring views of the city at night.

On the next morning we set off to the Montserrat massif. In order to get there we used cable cars, which was exciting. After we arrived we saw an incredible view of the mountains and the landscape of beautiful Catalonia. Next, we went to the Montserrat Monastery where we saw the figure of Black Madonna and beautiful interiors. After going downhill by coach we went to Barcelona. The main point of our sightseeing was the Sagrada Familia (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family), which we also saw inside. In sightseeing we were helped by audio guides, which were in English. After an exhaustiing and full of attractions day we went to a hotel.

Tuesday started with a visit to an aquarium in Barcelona. We saw many species of fish, sharks and penguins there. What made the greatest impression on us was a moving tunnel, in which we were surrounded by many species of sea creatures. Next, we went for a walk in the Guell park. You can see the Barcelona panorama from there. The last point of the day was a city game played on the most famous street - La Rambla. The objective of the game was to find places shown on the map and answer questions about them. The girls from IIIC class were the fastest team. In our free time La Boqueria St Josep market, where we could buy Spanish delights, fresh fruits, crabs, shellfish and fish caught our eye. At the end of the day we visited the Pablo Picasso museum. The activities there were in English.

The next day was intended for a rest. We spent it in the Tossa de Mar town, where we were sunbathing and visited a beautifully located ruins of an old fort. After that, we went on a cruise to the neighbouring Lloret de Mar, a famous sea resort, where we had some free time. The last attraction was an evening walk around Blanes. We climbed a huge rock in the sea, where we could admire a beautiful sunset and the panorama of the town. After taking group photos against the beautiful sea skyline we came back to our hotel.

On Thursday morning we checked out of the hotel. After that we went to the gardens in Blanes. There we saw interesting specimens of plants and palms. Next, we set off to Monaco. We were there at midnight and we were walking around beautifully lit streets. We saw Price Albert Palace and the famous casino. After the walk we set off to Italy.

Friday started with the sightseeing of Verona. We saw there Juliet’s figure, the main character of Shakespeare’s drama entitled “Romeo and Juliet”, and the whole of the beautiful old town. Unfortunately, we did not see Juliet’s balcony, because it was under renovation. Next, after 3 hours of sightseeing and free time, we went to Padua by train. We went to St. Anthony’s Basilica, where we saw the relics of St. Anthony. Around 7 pm we started our way back to Poland.

In Radzymin we were on Saturday around 4 pm. Concluding, we liked this trip very much. We visited many interesting places, we found out information about other cultures and traditions. We will not forget this trip for a long time.
